Accreditation Notice

The Institutional Accreditation Program (IAP) is an external evaluation method designed to assess quality assurance, education and training, research and development, social contribution, and governance system processes in higher education institutions within the framework of the “Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA)” cycle.

The IAP is conducted through evaluation panels established by the Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK) in accordance with the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Criteria and the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Guide.

Each year, the higher education institutions to be included in the IAP are determined by YÖKAK, and evaluation panels are formed in line with the institutional characteristics of these universities. As part of the evaluation process, a two-stage site visit—comprising a preliminary visit and a site visit—is carried out.

Following these visits, Institutional Accreditation Reports (IARs) are prepared by the evaluation panels, and accreditation decisions are made by YÖKAK based on these reports.

Program Accreditation

Program Accreditation refers to an external quality assurance process that evaluates whether a higher education program meets predefined academic and field-specific standards in a particular discipline.

In Türkiye, the authorization and recognition of accreditation agencies fall under the responsibility of the Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK). The authorization of national accreditation agencies and the recognition of international accreditation agencies are conducted in accordance with the principles and criteria established by YÖKAK.

Since 2016, information on programs accredited by agencies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK has been included in the Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide published for the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS).
